Aviation Drone Explorer Post 1 Youth Training Launch - Oct 11, 2023
Missouri City, TX — Aviation Drone Explorer Post 1 (also called EP1) is pleased to announce the successful launch of the EP1 Youth Drone Training Program. This training event took place on October 11, 2023 at the Landmark Community Center in Missouri City, TX. This is an historic occasion because it marks the start of the first known Drone Aviation Explorer Post in the Houston Area. Aviation Drone Explorer Post 1 focuses on training Youth Members to be prepared for careers in Drone Aviation. It also supports the community during times of crisis as part of Emergency Response efforts.
Key highlights of the event included:
- Welcome to Missouri City: Monica Riley (City Council Representative for Missouri City District A) joined us and presented a warm welcome to Missouri City for EP1. She also told us about important resources that are available in Missouri City and let us know she will be here to support us and help us grow in Missouri City. Constable Daryl Smith (Fort Bend, Precinct 2) also stopped by to show his support and helped to welcome us as well.
- Drone Fundamental Training – Part 1: The EP1 Trainers kicked off the first instructional session on Drone basics. Participants learned about Drone Careers, Drone components, and basic Drone Flight Operations.
- Drone Flying Instruction: The EP1 Trainers led the Participants in actual flight instruction with Drones. The Participants learned the first basic flight maneuvers and used them to start flying drones.
- Snacks: Delicious Gourmet chocolate chip cookies were provided by Scrumdiddlyumptious Bakery and Catering.
The event received very positive feedback from attendees who said the event was a lot of fun and very informational.
EP1 would like to express its deep appreciation to all Youth Members, Parents, Trainers, other Volunteers, our Executive Officer Dr. Charles Glass (the visionary who started this effort), Bailey Military Institute, Landmark Community Center, Monica Riley, and Scrumdiddlyumptious Bakery and Catering. Their collective support made this a great event.
